The Medical Liaison (ML) has the responsiblity to organize and participate in external medical education initiatives providing objective information on a range of apheresis therapies. The ML has ongoing contacts involving significant responsibility with medical professionals and representatives of professional organizations with whom the business is affiliated and professional/management levels within the business. This position influences issues of moderate to high importance. If the ML is an MD, additional responsibilities will include internal medical review of documents and issues.
Minimum Knowledge Required/Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD) in medicine or medical science or equivalent with a minimum of 6 years of experience in the medical setting.
- In depth knowledge of therapeutic apheresis indications, patient treatment options, clinical studies and related literature.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, compliance standards, and ethical obligations.
Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
- Proven ability to establish working relationships with all levels of clinical/technical/marketing people in corporate, clinical, and academic settings.
- Abilty to work independently and travel extensively.
- Self-directed and able to work independently.
Reponsibilities:
- Provide information internally and externally on therapeutic apheresis and related fields; information to include medical issues, trends, outcomes, literature, reimbursement.
- Design, organize and participate in external medical education seminars.
- Work with customers to help them with data abstraction and publication of clinical data related to therapeutic apheresis.
- Provide medical review and opinion as requested internally.
- Respond to to requests from healthcare professionals and decision makers with accurate, unbiased, balanced, and timely answers and information about apheresis therapy.
- Develop professional relationships with thought leaders and academic centers in assigned therapeutic area, and work with the Therapeutic Business Management team, translating those relationships into business and research opportunities.
- Keep abreast of medical and scientific developments in the assigned therapeutic area by continuously reviewing literature in the field, monitoring competitor activities, networking with experts, and attending conferences.
- Proactively disseminate information about significant developments in the assigned therapeutic area to internal customers, providing analysis and interpretation about how the developments might affect the company�s interests.
- Provide therapy and reimbursement training to sales and marketing.
